No pictures = I'm writing!

Here's what I'm doing for the past few days.

I've been brainstorming and writing however its only been a little over a few days but no more! I'm going to take it up a notch.

How I've been writing thus far: First I had the idea overall then when I first started writing I had some odd ways of doing it. I tried to just start writing the script out right, that was a mistake because, now I have some different ideas and has lead to some of the stuff that I've written to become obsolete. This means that I'm going to have to rewrite ALL sixty something pages of script this includes chapters one, two and half of three and that sucks!

What happened was I found I didn't like a part in the story and then I didn't like a few of the characters who did not contribute much to the story OR the other characters.

How I'm going to write now.

  1. I have the idea overall and I know where I want the story to go, which I do.
  2. Write up a 'prime' plot. A outline of what happens in every chapter, divided into Acts.
  3. Use the prime plot to write the script, so the script can be well ordered and it makes sense.
  4. When I need to rewrite it would be in the prime plot and not in the script so much, unless it's already written but I'm going to make sure that does not happen.

So, I'll start the script for book one when the prime plot for book one is completed. It'll all be planned out and I'm not doing this off the top of my head which leads to big problems like rewriting a bunch of stuff.

So, back to work!

Shading Lesson

A Special thank you to Joesph Burdlos (Burd-lost) one of the creators of Alpha Shade who took some his time to give me a free lesson in eyes and shading.

The following was taken from the Alpha Shade Forum, this happened when I posted the link to this blog on their forum and asked for a review of my artwork. I also got some good tips from another person on that forum.

--------

The base art is looking good, so it's the details that you will need to work on.

I think the two things that you should start with are eyes and shadows.

The eyes are an easy fix - you are thinking about them too literally- shade the iris and add a reflection ( usually a white dot will do the trick )

Shadows - you need to choose a light source - in you picture everyone is looking pretty flat, because the shadows are all over the place. Working on this will fix the noses and mouth issues I have as well.

Here - I'll show you...

Before

After

I didn't change the overall illustration - I just added shading...

When you shade think about where the light is coming from and the hills and valleys of objects - you just need to be bold, of course doing your shading on the computer has it's advantages as well - you can try things out without ruining your line art. But if you are going to do soft shading ( Cell shading has it's own issues ) you need to not be timid about the shadows.

This was very helpful!

Hisa and Jammie

So, these drawings are once again older pictures. As you can see I had a really hard time with these pictures. By the way these are the last of the older pictures, next up are newer and in color!

Jammie is Hisa's best friend and also a family friend she knows the Wyatt family through her father who is a business partner with Daren Wyatt; Hisa's dad. She and Hisa are inseparable.

Here is sweet Hisa!

Here is a messed up picture of Hisa; read the description on the picture.

Here is the draft for the messed up picture, which I think is better.

Brother and Sister

Alex and Kara Wyatt!

The Wyatt Twins

Landon and Logan!

These are old pictures I saved up. I drew these characters before I drew the Stargazing siblings.

This was the first sketch of one of the twins but it turned out very odd, I was reluctant to post it but I thought: 'whatever!'

SketchBook Pro

Yes, I have a full feature trial of Sketch Book Pro. A program that is so simple to use!

His Ukelele Wept

This is so beautiful. Music is one of mankind's most wonderful inventions ever! I hope you enjoy it.

Here is a quick sketch of Kara listening to this music.

Stargazing Siblings

This Drawing is a major milestone considering the fact that I have limited resources.
