I need to learn how to draw. I'm saying this because I'm not a bad artist, I consider my art okay or decent. I find that when I draw characters I make them too much like anime characters. My characters will in some sence be anime looking but borderline to the real looking. A my style of artwork, sometimes I get close to that look but then later I noticed flaws in my doodles
I've completed that goal for getting those character designs done but well pasted the deadline I set for myself. This means I fail, a deadline is a deadline and I didn't make it. This has left me angry at myself because I'm the guy who got screwed over by me.
After I was finished with the designs I realized that my art is still 2D and flat. A number of my honest relatives expressed to me this common flaw in my art. I was aware of this before I started the character designs. I had hoped that I would fix this while doing these character designs. There is one benefit to this failure. I have a very clear idea of what my three main characters should look like.
Overall Performance: 20%
Deadline #1: Three main character designs completed by 02/08/09
Deadline met: NO - Project was completed at 02/12/09 - Four Days overdue!
On a side note here I spent most of today working on personal things, taxes, my 'other' business yearly functions taking place, family functions and overall things I rather not do today but I did these things anyway.
This was a irritating situation for me, I would rather have been starting up the last two of the three main character designs for the deadline I set for myself and you (the reader) a couple of posts back. I want to set a good example to you readers by making sure that I complete these character designs before the deadline. That said I'm doing to set another deadline or in this case a new goal.
So, beside the fact that I have like only 2% of the webcomic ready to launch I've set the goal to have this project launched by January 1, 2010.
This includes all of the following:
At least 10 pages backlog.
Completed Business Plan.
The entire story conception completed with a simple written plot outline.
The script for parts one and two, completed.
All character designs completed.
A test comic completed.
The website completed and ready to launch. (This kinda goes without saying, but I said it anyway)
Here is the last but most important goal: "To have a drawing process that is detailed, colored, and fast."
What I'll need to do to:
Put six hours of work everydayinto the webcomic on any level, with the hard stuff being done first.
During these six hours I have to draw at least three drawings of characters, buildings, or anything involved in the webcomic, this will also be for designing the future time things in the webcomic.
Study human anatomy and perspective.
Learn how to build a website.
Not waste my time.
So with the extra 6 hours and this new job (maybe) 8 or 12 + 6 = 14 or 18 hours of working this means one or two hours of fun, studying, eating, shopping, and paying bills. This gives me 5 or 4 hours for sleeping or maybe no sleep, because sleeping is a waste of time. Those marines in Iraq sleep like one or two hours. The special forces don't sleep at all for days!
By the way, I still have the problem of having my characters looking 2D when I want them to look 3D. The studying of human anatomy and perspective will help I hope!
So that's it people.
The video below has very similar action to what I have in mind for part two of my webcomic!
Warning: If you get sicked out with people being killed, blood, heads chopped off, and knives... going into people... then don't watch the video!
