Crying Kara

Sad Face : (

Kara Battle - Stage 2 Background in progress!

As you can see I have started from the right and I am working my way left, take notice of the characters in the background watching the fight. There is a great amount of detail being done there with expressions and movement. Overall this is looking pretty good, in other words so far so good!

There are some funny things to look at in the stands too, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting rip of at least one of them.

Kara Battle Line Art!

As you can see from this previous post, Kara is a martial artist and you can see her glorious skills being put to the test here, as she brings the hammer down on her opponent!

I'll let you all know now that I have started other large projects like this and this all of which are on hold at the moment and they will be completed but this idea came up as I was drawing the chibis and I couldn't stop and so right now as I write this it is 1:20 AM and there are people asleep! (Saved the post for tomorrow afternoon)

Anyway, what I'm going to do is show the bit by bit process of this drawing. This process is 1) line art 2) background line art 3) back ground characters 4) shading from right to left 5) detailing 6) finishing and done.

The picture will be bigger... in fact about as big as my Stargazing Siblings artwork! I'll be applying all I learned so far to this drawing and cheers to my followers!

Yeah, Take Him Down Kara!

Chibis of Kara and Hisa!

Chibi: Also known as super deformed to cuteness: large head, eyes, mouth with small arms, legs, hands, feet and torso! There is an element of bright big happy eyes.

If any of you who don't know what I mean by 'chibi' go and Google Image the word 'Chibi' and you'll see what I'm talking about.

When I started this drawing I had in mind to do a REAL looking Chibi and obviously its not really real so, here is what I mean. You'll notice that I took the time to draw the chibis in complicated clothes with a fair bit of shadows on their features. I also made highlights in the hair and made deeper expressions in the character's faces. This was a key element in the picture for me and I always make sure I remember to make the characters expressive. To me most successful cartoonists and artists are successful because of their ability to make their characters expressive. Its the expression in their characters or figures that makes people viewing them look at the picture a little more and feel there is something alive in there. Thats the word I was looking for 'alive'.

The classic example of expression is the Monna Lisa, people have wondered what it is the woman in the Monna Lisa thinking or feeling. The expression of that woman is why the picture is the most recognizable portrait in the world.

So, for me a regular Chibi is automatically cute but I put a little more in my chibi then just 'cute'. I put in expression, feeling, detail and the cuteness.

Please enjoy the cuteness!
